Server move

Within the next few days I hope to move AnimeOTK and its sister sites to a new server. The new server has a slightly upgraded specification from our current setup and should hopefully allow us to continue to grow without problems.

Prior to the move, the forums will be closed to new posts and the gallery/fiction area closed to new submissions. The transfer should take a few hours, but you may experience downtime of up to 48 hours while the DNS updates (In my experience this is usually no more than 30 minutes though). Throughout the move the irc server will be up and running, however that will be moving to our new server once the sites are fully transferred.

As a user you don't need to do anything different, there will be a welcome message in this section of the forum on the new server so you know when you are accessing it.

IRC Server moved

Previous post with IRC details noted have changed and a note has been added to mention the change (in this entry under step 6) and the new details, instead of 64.32.1.40 please use irc1.animeai.com (or irc2.animeai.com) and you should be able to connect with no problems.

Server Problems

For some reason the server seems inaccessible, at this point in time we are unsure as to the issue however it is being investigated and an update will be posted as soon as information becomes available.

On another note the IRC Server is still online an accessible via an IRC client so users are welcome to join the chat.

==============
Edit

Server is back online again, we are continuing to monitor the situation.

Server Online

Everything is up and running again, still a few things likely left to do, so please bare with us if the sites are closed for short periods of time for basic maintenance.

Maintanance Commenced

As per the last two previous entries, maintenance has commenced today and l believe the drive replacement has now taken place as the server is back online.

What is left is restoration of the sites content which should hopefully happen shortly, though lm unable to give a time frame as Ai hasnt notified me of one but in all hopes 24hours should be enough (given that the host doesnt decide to have a coffee break for the next day or two)

Update on the previous entry

The host is taking its time to sort things out, however the previous enterys contents are still in effect.

In the interest of minimal dataloss the whole server and its sites have been closed in preperation for the servers drive to be replaced, as such we are backing up data and making sure that there is minimal dataloss by making sure that posts dont go into limbo when the server is taken offline.

Anywho, we are hoping this process will be completed promptly, though l guess that depends on the host.

Downtime Expected (updated IRC Details)

some point within the next 24 hours, the OTK server will be down for up to 24 hours to allow us to perform a hard drive upgrade on the server. This upgrade will require a full reinstall of the operating system so downtime will be total and server-wide. One of the drives in the machine has a potential problem and we are opting to replace it now to prevent future dataloss. Some minor data loss may occur but it should not be more than a few hours.

Regards
-Ai

(This accouncement affects: AnimeOTK, ODanime, FurryAI, YaoiAI, and DiaperedAnime)

On a further note the chatroom will be unaffected by our downtime issues so l am posting information for users who want to keep in touch with the staff and keep up to date on whats happening.

How to Install Mirc and Connect to our Chatroom
Step 1: Download mIRC
Go to http://www.mirc.com/get.html and click "Download mIRC". Then click "download now". A 1.67mb file called mirc635.exe should begin downloading. Save this somewhere on your PC you can find it easily.

Step 2: Install mIRC
Having downloaded mirc635.exe you shuold now run it. Click Next or I agree until you reach the "Choose Components page" Untick "Servers List" (See image 1) and click "next" again

Step 3: Run and setup mIRC
Having installed mIRC, go to your start menu and choose to run it. When you run it you'll get a popup saying it's an evaluation version and you must register it within 30 days. Ignore this - even after the 30 days it just continues to nag you on startup but otherwise works perfectly. Just click "continue" (See Image 2).
The options menu will pop up, if it doesn't then click "tools" then "options" (see image 3).
On this options menu, make sure "connect" in the left hand menu is selected, then enter your details - see image 4 for more information.
Once that is finished select "servers" in the left hand menu, next click "Add" (see image 5) Enter the information in image 6. Server: 64.32.1.40 and Port: 6667 are the critical ones. Make sure you leave password blank! Now click "Add".
Make sure the server you just added is highlighted and click "Select". Next click "OK" to close the options menu

Step 4: Connecting
In the top left you'll see a lightning bolt icon - click this to connect. (See image 7).
After connecting you'll probably get a window pop up called "mIRC Favorites". Simply close this - 99% of these channels won't exist on our network.
Now, in the only bar you can enter text type "/join #animeotk" to join our main chatroom. (see image 8)

Regarding downtime over last weekend (12th Feb)

As many will have seen, all sites hosted on the server were down.

This included: Animeotk, FurryAI, ODanime, Yaoiai, and DiaperedAnime.

The reason for the outage was a network issue at our hosts end which was not apparent until after the weekend when we were informed, and sadly due to the nature of the network issue we could only wait until the DataCentre technicians were around to fix the issue.

As far as the issue is concerned it should not happen again as the IP which was wrongly assigned to the server has been removed meaning requests for the site wont be blackholed any more.
